Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Education Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated a natural gas-based crematorium in Bhubaneswar.
The pollution-free and cost-effective compressed natural gas-based cremation system has been set up at Dharma Vihar in the city. It is supported by GAIL (India) Limited under its CSR initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that GAIL (India) has taken responsibility to establish three gas-based crematoriums-two in Bhubaneswar and one in Cuttack.
The other sites i.e., Alugadi, Aiginia, Bhubaneswar and Khannagar, Cuttack are in the advanced stages of construction. The estimated budget for all three locations is Rs 16 crore.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, BMC Ward No. 63 Corporator Sujata Chhotray, Director (Human Resources) of GAIL (India) Limited Ayush Gupta, and other senior officials from both GAIL (India) Limited and local administration were present on the occasion.
