Bhubaneswar: Local authorities such as Municipal Corporations and district administration will take a call on allowing shopping malls to operate during Unlock 2.0. Briefing about Odisha’s strategy for the month of July, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, “Local authorities may decide about opening of shopping malls with appropriate restrictions, during this period.”
Shopping malls have been closed in Odisha from March 16. Odisha was one of the few States where shopping malls were closed during Unlock 1.0. The Centre’s Unlock 1.0 plan, had allowed malls, restaurants and religious places to open from June 8, except those in containment zones.
On the other hand, restaurants and hotels will continue to operate in a very restricted manner.
Hotels and Restaurants are allowed to operate as per SOPs issued by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the State Government’s guideline stated.
“Restaurant service in hotels will be open for in-house guests only. Restaurants and hotels are permitted for home delivery or takeaways only. Dhabas along National and State Highways, major roads can remain open for takeaways only,” said Tripathy.
The aforementioned regulations / activities pertain to areas outside containment zones and will be applicable till July 31. “The State Government will adopt a graded approach for districts depending on the status of the spread of the disease and vulnerability. Additional restrictions are required to be imposed on mobility and congregations in the interest of the containment of the spread of the disease,” the Chief Secretary added.
