Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena will be today announcing future plan for COVID containment to be adopted by the State Government as the extended deadline of the statewide lockdown ends on August 1.
The Government of Odisha had imposed a statewide lockdown for the first time this year on May 2. Since then, the lockdown was extended in phases, accompanied by a weekend shutdown.
The unlock process began on June 17, in which 17 districts remained in the red zone (Category B) while 13 were declared to be in the green zone (Category A). On June 30, the lockdown was eased further and three more districts – Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar – were identified as Category A districts.
Odisha Government further relaxed the lockdown from July 16 with the resumption of bus services, outdoor sports activity and film shooting, the opening of gyms, saloons, spa and beauty parlours. Besides, the shop opening timings were extended across the State.
Now all are waiting to know what further relaxations will be implemented by the Government from August 1.
