Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, Superintendent of Police and NHAI official on Friday visited the unsafe Samajajpur overbridge while the Collector has reportedly directed the NHAI authorities to repair it soon.
NHAI Manager (Technical) Sanjay Channa have also been asked to make alternative road arrangement forthwith for plying of vehicles.
The Collector has also asked the NHAI to initiate a probe into it.
Odisha Works Secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan informed media that the repair work would be over by June 30 or before Rath Yatra as promised by the NHAI authorities to the Chief Secretary today.
He also informed that heavy vehicles have been banned to ply till the repair work is over while two-wheelers are only allowed now to use the bridge.
Talking to media persons near the unsafe bridge spot, Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal said it was due to a dispute between the constructor and the NHAI authorities such a structural misbalance of the bridge has occurred which has been directed to be set right anyhow before the Rath Yatra.
He also informed that the NHAI has been asked to make arrangement of makeshift road till the repair work is through.
