Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the raid followed by seizure of fake Covid-19 medicines from Cuttack, the Health and Family Welfare Department has issued strict instructions to all districts to mount strict surveillance on such activities.
Health and Family Welfare Department Minister, Naba Kisore Das today said total 117 boxes of duplicate Fabipiravir drugs were seized from a shop at Kanika Chowk in Cuttack a couple of days back.
“We will not tolerate the trade of fake medicines. After getting information on such activity in Cuttack our officials of the Drugs Control raided the shop. The owner Shiba Prasad Jena is being questioned.”
“Each box contains 100 tablets (Fabipiravir). As many as 27 boxes containing cough and cold and fever medicines have also been seized from the premises,” the Minister added.
The police, OSMCL, and the Health Department are conducting an inquiry on this matter. The seized material has been sent to laboratories in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata for testing.
“As per instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik black marketing will not be tolerated at any level. We have instructed all district authorities to launch inquiry at different levels to tap such unscrupulous traders,” Das said.
