**Bhubaneswar: ** Tension prevailed at the Chandaka SOG camp on Monday following the death of a Special Operation Group (SOG) jawan this morning during training session there following which other jawans resorted to protest by blocking the campus gate.
As per reports, the deceased, identified as Laxmi Narayan Pradhan (27) of Chandaneswar in Balasore, fainted as he was allegedly forced to undergo training and had to run 10 km despite being unwell.
The irate Jawans claimed that there was delay in giving medical attention and it caused the death of their fellow jawan. He died while being rushed to Capital Hospital here.
Following the protest and palpable tension, ADG (Operation) Sunil Ray and IG (Operation) Soumendra Priyadarshi rushed to the SOG Chandaka campus here and held discussion with the agitating SOG jawans and the tense situation was brought under control.
Later speaking to media, IG (Operation) Soumendra Priyadarshi said the anti-extremist tactic training is a commando training and very hard.
On being asked why he was alleged forced to run despite being unwell, Priyadarshi replied, “Last week when he had complained of his illness, he was not asked to run the mandatory 10 km within a stipulated time. Today he didn’t say anything, rather ran and after completion fainted following which he was given the preliminary treatment here at the camp’s MI itself and was soon rushed to Capital Hospital where he was declared dead. The cause of death could be ascertained only after post mortem.”
