Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department has issued an advisory to all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to remain alert and take all necessary precautionary measures.

Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of H&UD Department, has instructed ULBs to pre-position dewatering pumps in waterlogging-prone areas and ensure that control rooms remain operational round the clock. She also emphasized the importance of mobilising rapid response teams to handle any emergency situation that may arise due to excessive rainfall.

The Department reiterated its commitment to working closely with ULBs to ensure effective management of urban areas during adverse weather conditions, emphasizing that “All Urban Local Bodies must stay vigilant. Our focus should be on prompt action and citizen safety. Please keep the Department informed.”

Coordination with line departments, availability of emergency manpower, and readiness of essential equipment have been highlighted as key areas of action.

The Department is continuously monitoring the situation and urges citizens to remain cautious and follow advisories issued by the local authorities.
