**Bhubaneswar:** Fifty-two years old Urjit Patel and the present Deputy Governor of RBI has been appointed as the new Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by the Union Government.
Patel will assume office from September 4 this year for three years.
A doctorate in Economics from Yale University and previous stint with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to his career’s credit, Patel will be succeeding incumbent RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
Several industry leaders have welcome the appointment of Patel as the new RBI Governor.
