Hyderabad: In a bid to strengthen commercial and cultural relations with Odisha, US Consul General Jennifer Larson today called on State Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain to discuss potential industries, employment, and export-import opportunities in the state.
During the meeting, Industries Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma highlighted Odisha’s Paradip port as the second-largest port in India, exporting various mineral products, petrochemicals, and seafood to foreign countries like China, Japan, and Malaysia.
IDCO Chairman Bhupinder Singh Punia emphasized Odisha’s skilled human resources and its leadership in the electronics and semiconductor industry in Malaysia and Vietnam.
The meeting was marked by gift exchanges, with Larson’s 6-member team presenting gifts to Minister Swain and his officers. The US Consul General office in Hyderabad, established in 2008, aims to foster good relations with Indian citizens, and the Government of India, and promote trade in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
