Bhubaneswar: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will be laying the Foundation Stone of the much-awaited project, ‘Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station’ on Thursday. Vaishnaw who is on a visit to the State, will inaugurate a slew of other projects as well on December 29.
The proposed for redevelopment aims at renovating the Bhubaneswar station with world-class infrastructure and amenities. Bhubaneswar Railway Station is a part of Vaishnaw’s vision to create modern infrastructural facilities and amenities for railway passengers throughout India.
The redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station is a key project being personally monitored by the Railway Minister, who is a Rajya Sabha Member from Odisha. Vashnaw has time and again, stressed on early completion and execution of this project which entails a cost of Rs 308 crore and is expected to be completed in 2 years.
A number of facilities have been developed and are under the process of development in this project. The Railways have laid importance on development of the New Building, Air concourse, Renovation of Platforms, Platform Shelters and Circulating areas, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) informed.
Besides, the Platform Lighting, Food Court Zone and Shopping Areas, Waste Management, waiting rooms, toilets, and elevators are also on the priority list for the proposed development of the Bhubaneswar station.
There will be the provision of well-designed service roads, vehicle parking, Drains, Signage and Dividers. The New Building will have high Standard Dormitories and Retiring Rooms apart from the beautified circulating area, the ECoR stated.
