Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has revised the hiring charges for private vehicles used for official purposes by various state government offices.
This revision comes after a gap of five years, with the last update made in 2019.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Department (Office Memorandum No. 15836/F, dated 27-05-2025), the revised charges are now applicable to all private vehicles hired for official use across government offices.
“Hiring charges were last fixed in 2019, and in the meantime, six years have already elapsed. Hence, in supersession of the provisions of FDOM No. 22924/F dated 14.08.2023 and FDOM No. 2477/F dated 29.01.2024, it has now been decided to revise the hiring charges for various categories of vehicles hired in government offices as given below,” the notification stated.
Revised Rates for Vehicle Categories:
- Blocks, Tahasils and Field Offices:
Hiring charges raised from Rs 31,000 to Rs 37,200. - Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs):
Increased from Rs 37,000 to Rs 44,400. - Apex Scale Officers and Ministers:
Charges revised from Rs 42,000 to Rs 50,400.
Institutional Transport:
- 15-seater buses: Rs 58,500
- 25-seater buses: Rs 71,500
- 32-seater buses: Rs 90,000
These rates apply to vehicles used by colleges, training institutes, and other institutions.
Special Category Vehicles:
- TATA Ace (LGV): Rs 33,500
- Mahindra/Bolero/Tata pickups: Rs 42,000
Additionally, the government has specified minimum mileage requirements, ranging from 6 to 17 km/l, depending on the vehicle type.
The revision aims to rationalise and standardise vehicle hiring across government departments, ensuring fair compensation in light of rising fuel and maintenance costs.
The revised rates come into effect immediately and will be applicable to officials operating in blocks, districts, and secretariat-level offices.
