Bhubaneswar: Renowned Odia film producer Rabindra Mohan Sahoo passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 81.
Apart from being a producer, Sahoo was also a talented actor, storywriter, and lyricist. His contributions to Odia cinema will always be remembered.
Sahu is survived by his wife, five sons, and a daughter.
Sahu, a prominent figure in the Odia film industry, produced several iconic movies, including the first Odia film ‘Eie ta T Dunia’ (1987). His notable works include ‘Bastra Haran’, ‘Bohu Hebo Emiti’, ‘Pacheri Uthila Majhi Duaru’, ‘Naga Panchami’, ‘Mani Nageswari’, ‘Sasu Hata Kari Bhauja Bedi’, ‘Kulanandan’, ‘Rasik Nagara’, and ‘Aalo Mora Kandhei’.
Apart from his contributions to the film industry, he also had a brief stint in politics. In the 1980s, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected as a councillor of the Kendrapada Municipal Corporation.
Sahu also contested the Kendrapada Assembly constituency election as a BJP candidate, although he was unsuccessful in his bid.
