Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today afternoon apprehended one Prakash Chandra Sahoo, Additional Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO), CT&GST, Enforcement Unit, Paradeep while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a glass and ply dealer for taking no action against him following an inspection of his business site and verification of records carried out in May 2022.
Vigilance officials have seized the entire bribe money of Rs 2,00,000 from the accused’s possession, said an official press release.
Following the trap, Vigilance department sleuths have launched a search at accused Sahoo’s residence at Olavara in Kendrapara district.
Vigilance has registered a case against Sahoo under section 7 of the PC Act as amended by PC Amendment Act and further investigation into the matter is underway.
