Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Rajani Kanta Majhi, Junior Engineer (JE), Delanga Block in Puri district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor.
Accused Majhi had taken the bribe from the contractor for facilitating the release of the final bill towards the construction of Anganwadi Centre, said an official press release.
Vigilance officials have recovered and seized the entire bribe money from Majhi, the release added.
Following the trap, Vigilance officials launched simultaneous searches at two locations of Majhi. Searches are underway, the release said.
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against Majhi at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station in this connection under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
Further investigation into the matter is under progress, the release added.
