Vigilance Arrests Additional Tahasildar In Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance on Sunday arrested the Additional Tahasildar of Kuchinda in Sambalpur district in a bribery case. The Additional Tahasildar, Sarada Maharana is facing charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh. She was produced before the Court which remanded her in judicial custody till May 21.

Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case in this connection. Following the trap laid by Vigilance raids were conducted at multiple locations such as Rourkela, Chandbali and Kuchinda and detected movable and immovable property.

Maharana joined Government service as Revenue Inspector (RI) in 2012 and served till 2019. Thereafter on joining Odisha Revenue Service in 2019, she joined as Additional Tahasildar in Kuchinda after training. “The source of the assets is being verified. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase. Enquiry is in progress,” the Vigilance stated.
