Bhubaneswar: Vigilance today arrested the Chief Engineer and Basin Manager of Baitarani Basin in Keonjhar, for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) exceeding 112% of his known sources of income.
Balasore Vigilance registered a case against accused engineer Kailash Chandra Sahu under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the PC Amendment Act, 2018.
During searches, movable and immovable assets were seized in Sahu’s and his family members’ names, including:
A triple-storied residential building (8,821 sq ft) in Jajpur’s Mrutyunjaypur, flats in Bhubaneswar’s Bhoi Nagar, Puri’s Dharma Heaven Apartment, and Jajpur Road’s Dolipur,a 138 sq ft shop in Vyasanagar, 28 valuable plots (one in Cuttack, four in Khordha, and 23 in Jajpur).
The antigraft agency also found bank deposits and mutual fund investments (Rs 88,38,058), 200g of gold jewellery, one four-wheeler and three two-wheelers, household articles worth Rs 17.17 lakhs.
After calculating Sahu’s income, expenditure, and assets, Vigilance found him in possession of DA exceeding 112% of his known sources of income.
