Bhubaneswar: The vigilance has slapped another case against former Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Kaniguma GP under Thuamularampur block in Kalahandi district, who was arrested earlier for possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs. 68,06,278.

Sanyasi Nayak was arrested following a trap and simultaneous house searches by the anti-graft agency on May 27.

Nayak and his spouse have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and will face trial at the Special Judge Vigilance Court in Bhawanipatna.

This is Nayak’s second arrest, having been previously caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 on May 26, 2024, in connection with the MGNREG Scheme. Nayak is under suspension.
