Bhubaneswar: Rajendra Dash, a former accounts officer of Reamal Block in the Deogarh district, was detained by the Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday for having disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 8 crores.
Dash was detained and is currently being brought before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, for possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs. 8,04,64,645—514% more than his known sources of income, according to the Vigilance.
He had previously been detained on June 27, 2023, in a trap case for allegedly asking for and taking a bribe of Rs. 6,000 from a complainant in exchange for expediting the discharge of pending invoices in his favour in relation to the construction of an Anganwadi Centre. He was detained by the court until July 7 and then released on bond.
Following the trap, a Vigilance team searched homes on June 27 and 28, discovering moveable and immovable assets worth crores in Dash and his family members’ names.
During the raids, bank deposits totaling Rs. 1,70,45,009 as well as gold and silver jewellery as well as home items valued at over Rs. 6.60 lakh were also discovered.
The Vigilance has filed a complaint against Rajendra Dash, a former accounts officer at Reamal Block, and his spouse under Section 13(2) and Section 13(1)(b) of the 2018 P.C. Amendment Act.
Following the trap on June 27, 2023, the Odisha Vigilance team searched homes on June 27 and 28, and discovered the following movable and immovable assets in the names of Dash, and his family.
