Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra, Additional Civil Supplies Officer of Kendrapara for possessing disproportionate assets.
Based on searches conducted on properties of Mohapatra, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including two buildings in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, two costly plots in the twin cities, gold weighing 850 grams, deposits exceeding Rs2.86 crore, cash amounting to Rs 1.21 lakh, said the release issued by Vigilance Department.
Mohapatra failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, leading to his arrest. He will be produced in court today. A case has been registered against Mohapatra under Vigilance Cell PS case number 08/2024.
Notably, Vigilance sleuths on Friday launched simultaneous searches at five locations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Kendrapara in connection with the alleged possession of disproportionate assets by Mohapatra.
The searches were led by four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), one Assistant Commandant, five Inspectors, and other supporting staff, based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance, Cuttack.
