Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Directorate today arrested the Ophthalmic Assistant of Padampur Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bargarh district Kishore Chandra Pradhan on charges of amassing assets worth Rs 90,91,575 disproportionate to his known sources of income, said an official press release.
Officials of the anti-corruption wing’s Sambalpur Division during simultaneous house searches by three teams comprising one DSP, three Inspectors and other staff on Wednesday unearthed two double-storeyed buildings at Sohela and Padampur in Bargarh district, four plots in Tal and Padampur, three two-wheelers and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling over Rs 1.25 crore linked to Pradhan, the release added.
According to the release, after a thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Pradhan were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 90,91,575 which constitutes 125% of his known sources of income.
As Pradhan was found in possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily the Vigilance today registered a case against him under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b)/12 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
He was arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, the release stated.
