Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Biswabandhu Panigrahi, Superintending Engineer (SE) Public Health (PH) Division, Bhubaneswar for amassing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 338 percent of his known sources of income which he could not account for satisfactorily.
According to an official press release, Vigilance officials during house searches have unearthed a double storeyed building at VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar; agreement made with Assotech and advance Rs 39 Lakhs paid by Panigrahi to purchase 3-BHK Flat in name of his spouse in Assotech Pride, Bhubaneswar; one single storeyed building at Mathasahi, Bhadrak; 6 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak; bank, postal & insurance deposits worth Rs 4.02 crore; cash Rs 3,18,000; gold jewellery weighing approx 421 gms including 269 gm gold found from locker; and 1 four wheeler & 4 two wheelers and household articles worth approximately Rs 17 lakh in the names of the accused and his family members.
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against Panigrahi and his spouse under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) and 12 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018 at the Vigilance Cell police station on Thursday.
Further investigation in the matter is under progress, the release added.
