Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Vigilance had yesterday conducted simultaneous house searches at six places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack associated with Biranchi and had unearthed assets worth over Rs 3.79 crore.
Three teams of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division comprising four DSPs, 13 Inspectors, and other staff conducted simultaneous house searches and unearthed two double-storeyed buildings at Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar; two single-storeyed buildings at Bhakti Vihar, Bhubaneswar and Godibandha in Cuttack district; 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Khordha and Puri.
The team also recovered one four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, insurance deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, Rs 12 lakh in cash from Sahoo’s house, over Rs 13 lakh in cash from the house of his relative, gold ornaments weighing approx 1.5kg worth over Rs 60 lakh and other movable and immovable properties.
Further, bank slips indicating huge cash deposits in bank accounts were also recovered. Recruitment related applicant admit cards and such other incriminating documents were also recovered during the searches.
