Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur on Monday convicted and sentenced retired Planning Assistant of Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) Benudhar Dalabehera to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for two years and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for possession of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income, said an official press release.
In default of payment of the fine, the court ordered Dalabehera to undergo RI for a further period of one month for the offence, the press release added.
The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Dalabehera under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the press release said.
According to the press release, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Dalabehera following his conviction.
