Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh on Saturday sentenced the retired head clerk of Balisankara Tahasil Md Sabir Hussain to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for four years and a fine after convicting him for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for processing a mutation case regarding transfer of ownership of land, said an official press release.
The court ruled that in default of payment of the fine, Hussain has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 2 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the PC Act, 1988, the release added.
According to the release, the court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and payment of fine and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 2 months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act,1988.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently, it added.
Further, convict Hussain was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Hussain following his conviction, the release said.
