Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Monday uncovered Rs 2.9 lakh in cash during a search operation from the house of Executive Engineer (EE) of Tel Irrigation Division Jitendra Kumar Padhy following his arrest in a graft case.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier Padhy was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 46,000 from a contractor (complainant) in his office chamber for clearing his pending bills.
As per reports, Vigilance sleuths launched simultaneous search operations linked to Padhy following his arrest. As part of the search operation, the Vigilance personnel conducted searches at his Sailashree Vihar-based house and seized Rs 2.9 lakh cash.
Besides, Vigilance found a farmland of huge patch 18 acres at Badamba in Cuttack.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Sambalpur Vigilance PS under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
He was produced in court later in the day.
