Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 2.15 during house searches of Odisha Motor Vehicle Department (OMVD) ASI Harekrushna Nayak of Jharsuguda and his family members, said an official press note issued by the Vigilance.
The properties unearthed by the Vigilance are one double-storeyed building at Friends Colony, Mangalabag, Cuttack worth Rs 61.4 lakh; one double-storeyed building at Maluda under Krushnaprasad police limits in Puri district worth Rs 70 lakh; one double-storeyed building at Kamapalli Chhak in Berhampur worth Rs 37.99 lakh; 5 numbers of plots including 2 plots at Cuttack, 1 plot at Berhampur and 2 plots at Krushnaprasad in Puri district valuation of which are in progress; fixed deposits, bank, and insurance deposits worth over Rs 18.12 lakh; cash worth Rs 4.46 lakh; gold, silver and household articles worth over Rs 9.5 lakh; and four two-wheelers.
Based on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against Nayak, Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous house searches at six places including his office room at OMVD/RTO office Jharsuguda.
Six teams of the Vigilance led by 3 DSsP, 10 Inspectors, and other staff today conducted the search on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack which led to the detection of the aforementioned properties.
Vigilance said further searches are underway.
