Vigilance Interception Case: Jeypore DDA Sent To Judicial Remand Till July 16

Koraput: A vigilance court on Friday sent Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, the Deputy Director of Agriculture, Jeypore, to judicial remand till July 16 in connection with the unaccounted cash of around Rs 11.73 lakh detected from him during an interception yesterday while he was proceeding to Bhubaneswar.

At 12.30 PM on Thursday, vigilance Officers of Koraput Division had intercepted Mohanty near Deoghati High School while he was proceeding to Bhubaneswar from Jeypore via Koraput in a Toyota Innova Car. During interception, a sum of Rs 11,73,430 was found from his possession which he could not account for satisfactorily.

Following the interception, vigilance searched the residential double storied building of  Mohanty at Bhubaneswar and found him and family members in possession of movable and immovable assets worth over 1.03 crore.

In this connection, a case was registered against Mohanty at Koraput Vigilance Police Station under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act. He was arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance Jeypore following which he was remanded to judicial custody till July 16.  The investigation of the case is in progress.
