Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Jitendra Kumar Senapati, junior assistant in the office of Additional Commissioner (Settlement & Consolidation) of Kendrapara while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complainant to process her RC case registered in 2022 for correction of plot and khata number related to her land.
According to sources, the complainant had been requesting Senapati to process her file for a long time. The accused Senapati demanded Rs10,000 as a bribe to get her work done.
Being a poor woman, the complainant was unable to pay the demanded bribe. Finding no other go, she approached vigilance sleuths.
Accordingly, vigilance officials hatched a plan and nabbed the accused Senapati red-handed, while accepting the bribe from the complainant on Friday. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being carried out by vigilance sleuths at two locations of Senapati from a disproportionate assets angle.
Cuttack Vigilance registered a case under the 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
