Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended Babita Suna, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Mahila Police Station, Berhampur, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to the Vigilance authorities, ASI Suna was the investigating officer in a case registered at the Mahila police station against the complainant and his mother.
The ASI allegedly demanded a bribe from a complainant to help him and his mother, who were involved in the case. The ASI threatened to arrest the complainant unless the bribe was paid.
The complainant, having no other option, reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities, who laid a trap and caught ASI Suna red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000. The entire bribe amount has been recovered from her possession and seized.
