Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Pusha Munda, Chief Civil Supplies Officer-cum-District Manager of Odisha State Civil Supply Corporation Ltd. (OSCSL) in Ganjam district.
The arrest was made in an interception case where Munda was found carrying Rs 3 lakhs in unaccounted cash on July 9.
According to the vigilance department, Munda was intercepted near Chhatrapur Science College while driving his office Bolero vehicle. He failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the cash, leading to the seizure of the amount and the vehicle.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at Munda’s rented quarters in Chhatrapur, his residential house in Bhawanipatna, and his office chamber following the interception.
The searches uncovered substantial assets, including:
- A three-storeyed building with approximately 5,000 square feet in Bhawanipatna town
- A homestead plot in Bhawanipatna town
- A large patch of land comprising 10 plots measuring around 19 acres on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna town, purchased in 2023.
- One Suzuki Ciaz ZXI four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, and a benami two-wheeler registered in the name of a local rice miller.
A case has been registered against Munda under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The investigation is currently in progress, and Munda has been forwarded to the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.
