Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Inspector In Charge (IIC) of Dasmantpur police station in Koraput district Chandrabhanu Mohanty and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the same police station Dipti Hira for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a person to help him in a case.
The case was registered in Dasmantpur police station of which the ASI was the Investigating Officer (IO).
The overall demand was Rs 13,000, of which they had taken Rs 5000 a few days back and were nabbed by the team of Odisha Vigilance while taking the balance bribe amount of Rs 8000 today. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Hira, ASI, and seized, the official release said.
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case at Koraput Vigilance police station under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
An investigation is in progress against both the accused persons namely Mohanty and Hira, ASI.
