Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended the Principal a Higher Secondary School in Khurdha for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the spouse of the Assistant Librarian of the same school.
Bidyutprabha Jena, Principal of Keranga Panchayat Higher Secondary School, Khurdha was caught while accepting the amount from the spouse of Asst. Librarian of the said School for transmitting post elevation of pending arrear salary to the competent authority and facilitating the release of bill in favour of the Librarian.
The assistant Librarian had undergone brain surgery for his ailments and was urgently in need of money. Despite several requests made by the wife of the Librarian, accused Jena was demanding bribe to get the work done.
Finding no other way, the wife of the Assistant Librarian lodged complaint with the Vigilance. The anti-graft agency nabbed the principal while accepting the bribe from the complainant.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused principal and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Jena from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case under sections 7 PC (Amendment) Act. An investigation is in progress against accused Jena.
