Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Manas Dhala, Dealing Assistant (Jr. clerk), in the Block Education Officer (BEO), Patamundai of Odisha’s Kendrapara district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a teacher for a drawl of his arrear salary pending for over a year. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the accused Dhala.
Following a complaint by the teacher, the Vigilance officials set up a trap to nab Dhala red-handed. Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations related to Dhala from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case (No 9/2023) under Section 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered in this connection at the Cuttack Vigilance police station. Further investigation is in progress against the accused Dhala.
