Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has recovered additional Rs 1.4 crore cash of Kartikeswar Roul, Assistant Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district, from his second wife Kalpana Pradhan’s sister house at Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar.
During further investigation and interrogation of Kalpana, she confessed to have concealed more cash, gold, etc in her sister’s house at Salia Sahi. Based on this input, the location was searched by a team of Odisha Vigilance early morning today, during which the following was unearthed:
1. Cash Rs 1,41,62,400. With this, the total cash seizure in the case goes to a record Rs 3,41,66,280.
2. Approximately 354 gm gold
3. Property documents indicating purchase of a Triplex from M/s Kesari Estate Pvt Ltd at Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar on cash payment of Rs 78,50,000.
Kartikeswar had been arrested yesterday for possession of disproportionate assets.
On the first day of the search i.e. April 6, Rs 2,50,880 cash had been recovered. On the second day of the house search on Thursday, Rs 2 Crores 50 Thousand cash was unearthed from the house of Kartikeswar and his second wife Kalpana at TATA Ariana Flat No 0505, Bhubaneswar.
Previously, assets worth over Rs 2.76 Crores including 2 Flats and 1 double-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, Bank and Insurance deposits of approximately Rs 37.23 Lakhs, 7 Plots including 2 plots in a prime area in Bhubaneswar, etc. were unearthed during house search of Kartikeswar.
