Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today carried out searches at the properties of the Ex-Chairman of Golamunda Panchayat Samiti in Kalahandi district on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.
The anti-graft officials conducted simultaneous searches at the houses of Bindu Mahananda. The team comprises of one additional SP, three DSPs, four Inspectors and other staff searched at five locations linked to Mahananda.
It is pertinent to mention that Mahananda while functioning as Chairman, Golamunda Panchayat Samiti was involved in a criminal case registered at Kegaon Police Station in Kalahandi district for misappropriation of Government funds to the tune of Rs.43,67,901. The funds were meant for beneficiaries under PM Fasal Vima Yojana.
He was arrested by Kegaon Police in this case on September 22, 2023.
Following the arrest, the vigilance verified the facts against Mahananda from DA angle. After due verification, search warrants were obtained from the special vigilance court in Bhawanipatna
