Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths have apprehended Tahasildar of Khandapara, Nayagarh district, Dhobei Nayak, and a private person named Prasanna Kumar Sahoo for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant on Tuesday, late night.
Sahoo was caught red-handed by the vigilance team while accepting a bribe from the complainant to release his seized sand-laden Hyva (truck) as per the instructions of Nayak, Tahasildar of Khandapara.
The anti-corruption squad has recovered and seized the entire bribe amount from Sahoo’s possession.
The agency has initiated concurrent searches at three of Nayak’s locations under suspicion of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) following the successful trap operation.
The Vigilance has registered a case against Nayak under section 7PC (Amendment)Act, 2018.
Further investigation is in progress against both the accused persons.
