Koraput: The State Vigilance is to verify the source of disproportionate income of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), who was found in the possession of assets worth over Rs 3.79 crore.
Vigilance Director YK Jethwa informed that the property has been seized and the verification is under process. Further action will be taken as per law. Meanwhile, the OSSC has also initiated a departmental inquiry in this regard.
Reportedly, three teams of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division comprising four DSPs, 13 Inspectors, and other staff had conducted simultaneous house searches at six places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack associated with Sahoo.
They had unearthed two double-storeyed buildings at Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar; two single-storeyed buildings at Bhakti Vihar, Bhubaneswar and Godibandha in Cuttack district; 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Khordha and Puri.
The team also recovered one four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, insurance deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, Rs 12 lakh in cash from Sahoo’s house, over Rs 13 lakh in cash from the house of his relative, gold ornaments weighing approx 1.5kg worth over Rs 60 lakh and other movable and immovable properties.
Further, bank slips indicating huge cash deposits in bank accounts were also recovered. Recruitment related applicant admit cards and such other incriminating documents were also recovered during the searches. Subsequently, Sahoo was arrested.
