Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Ramesh Chandra Bhatra, forester of Kundra Forest Range and Mahendra Khara, a Gaon Sathi (village mate) for misappropriating government funds of more than Rs 10 lakh.
As per reports, the embezzlement occurred in the name of the execution of the cattle-proof trench project. The investigation is currently underway, and further details are awaited
“On Monday, Vigilance arrested Ramesh Chandra Bhatra, Forester, Bagaderi Section under Kundra Forest Range and Mahendra Khara, Village Mate of Dangarapali village under Kundra block in the district. Bhatra and Khara were arrested for misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 10,60,150 in the execution of Cattle Proof Trench, read the press release issued by the Odisha Vigilance Department.
The accused were arrested and forwarded to the Special Vigilance Court of Jeypore. Vigilance sleuths registered a case against the duo under various sections of the PC Amendment Act, 2018.
