Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today caught red-handed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Bonth police station in Bhadrak district Manas Kumar Parida along with a private person for allegedly demanding accepting and accepting a bribe.
According to an official press release, Parida and a private person Amareswar Nayak were apprehended today evening while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person to help him and his mother in a land dispute case earlier registered at Bonth police station.
Officials of the anti-corruption agency have seized the entire bribe money recovered from Nayak’s possession.
Following the trap, the agency has launched simultaneous searches at three locations of ASI Parida from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered at the Balasore Vigilance police station under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
An investigation against ASI Parida and Nayak is underway.
