Bhubaneswar: Vigilance department sleuths today unearthed assets worth around Rs 4.93 crore possessed by a teacher in Ganjam district.
Officials of the anti-graft agency based on an allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by one Bhubanananda Sahu, Classical Hindi teacher of Jasoda High School, Jhandankuli under Rangeilunda Block of Ganjam district, conducted simultaneous searches at five places and found him to be in possession of assets worth Rs.4,93,97,244, said a press release issued by the Office of the Director, Vigilance today.
Sahu’s residential house at Baikunthanagar, Berhampur; five-storied building at Brahmanagar, Berhampur; house at native village Kotilingi, Ganjam; Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandira at Laxmipur, Ganjam; and office room at Jhandankuli, Berhampur were searched by the anti-graft agency, it added.
Movable and immovable assets so far unearthed from the possession of Sahu and his family members include one five-storied building at Brahma Nagar, Berhampur, one triple-storied building at Baikunthanagar, Berhampur; one single-storied building of Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandira at Laxmipur, Ganjam; apartments at Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur and Puri; one asbestos house at Brahma Nagar, Berhampur; one single room at Laxmipur, Ganjam; shop rooms at Nimkhandi Ganjam; ten numbers of plots near Berhampur; deposits in different banks, investment in LIC, gold ornaments, cash and household articles including three numbers of motorcycles, the press release said.
Further enquiry is underway, the press release added.
