Subarnapur police attack

Sonepur: Tension mounted in Papi village under the Singhijuba panchayat of Binika block in Subarnapur district on Wednesday, following a clash between villagers and the police. The confrontation has left three policemen injured, and a police van was damaged in the attack.

The incident occurred after police arrived in the village in response to robbery attempt by some youths on the previous night.

As per reports, while farmers in Papi village were irrigating their fields late on Tuesday night three youths attempted to rob them, targeting their mobile phones and motorcycles.

Upon hearing the farmers’ cries for help, nearby farmers rushed to the scene and managed to overpower the robbers. The three youths were severely beaten and later locked in the village clubhouse.

As news of the incident spread, a police team from Binika police station reached Papi village on Wednesday morning. However, the situation quickly spiraled out of control when the villagers, angered by the previous night’s events, attacked the police officers. The altercation left three policemen injured, and the villagers also damaged the police van.

Following the clash, additional police forces have been deployed in the village to maintain order and prevent further violence.
