Nayagarh: Yet another case of people adopting blind beliefs in the age of science was reported from Barasahi village under Sarankul police limits in Nayagarh district.
After the death of a person while attending a religious festival in the village, instead of conducting his last rites, the villagers started performing rituals to bring him back to life.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Rabi Nahak of Singarpur village had been taken ill two days back while attending a religious festival at Barasahi.
He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital where the doctor declared him dead. His post-mortem was conducted on Sunday and the body was sent back to the village.
However, instead of conducting his last rites, the villagers started performing some rituals and prayers to bring him back to life. This was allegedly done in presence of police.
