Dhenkanal: Villagers of Karnapur under Baunsapokhari panchayat in Hindol block of Dhenkanal district had blocked the Hindol-Angul road for several hours on Friday demanding the release of three persons who had been held in connection with the death of a leopard.
Reportedly, a leopard had died a few days back in a forest near Karnapur after falling into a trap set for wild boar. Hindol forest authorities had detained three villagers of Karnapur for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Upon learning this, the villagers blocked the road yesterday afternoon and demanded immediate release of the persons not involved in the crime. The blockade was lifted after DSP Anjana Tudu, Inspector-In-Charge of Hindol Police Station and staff reached the spot and pacified the villagers.
