Bhubaneswar: Villagers allegedly looted liquor bottles after a truck carrying alcoholic beverages met with an accident on National Highway (NH)-55 in Cuttack district on Saturday evening.
The mishap occurred at Kushpangi near Choudwar when the truck reportedly lost control and fell into a ditch dug alongside the highway for a drainage project. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to reports, the accident site lacked proper warning signage to alert motorists about the ongoing construction work. As a result, the driver, unaware of the ditch near the highway, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.
Soon after the incident, local villagers gathered at the spot and allegedly took away several liquor bottles from the damaged truck.
On receiving information, Choudwar police rushed to the site and seized the remaining liquor bottles.
