**Berhampur**: In a shocking incident, two young boys were administered electric shocks on suspicion of theft. The video was captured by some vigilant onlooker and went viral on social media.
Inspector Vaidehi Behera, IIC, Arjyapalli Marine Police informed OMMCOM NEWS, “We received a video and a phone call regarding the incident. We sent the video to some of our people in the four villages and got to know about the exact location of the incident. When we reached there, no one was found. One of the victims Narayan was traced and hospitalised but he was too frightened to file a complaint. So we took suo moto cognizance and have started the investigation. We will soon nab the culprits.”
Interestingly, the man who is seen administering the electric shock is identified as Kalia. He cornered two suspects Chinna Behera and Narayana for stealing Rs 5,500 from his wife’s purse. Interestingly, Chinna Behera is the brother of Kalia’s wife.
Kalia, with the help of three more people, had administered shocks from live electric wire to both Chinna and Narayana in a bid to punish them for this theft. But as this video went viral, and police started to search for them and all the four absconded.
According to Chhatrapur SDPO Ramesh Chandra Sethi, “Suspecting Chinna and Narayana to steal money during Dussehra, Kalia, alongwith his friend Gobinda had taken them to a ‘matt’ and confined them with their hands and legs tied. After that, he gave them electric shocks. The IIC is investigating the case after the video went viral. The culprits will soon be arrested.”
