Bhubaneswar: The Visakhapatna-Bhavanipatna passenger train derailed near Andhra Pradesh’s Kottavalasa railway station near Visakhapatna. Two more coaches along with the engine of the train have been derailed. However, while the loco pilot was slightly injured, all the passengers were safe.
The train left Visakhapatnam at 6.00 pm and reached Kottavalasa station at 6:48 pm. While changing track to route No. 2, the line the trolley of the engine, and two coaches of the train derailed between Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatna stations.
Local police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and helped in the rescue operation in a war-like situation.
According to an East Coast Railway (ECoR) communiqué, the train departed Kottavalasa station at 9.20 pm.
