Sambalpur: The Burla-based Veer Surendra Sai University OF Technology (VSSUT) has been shut till further notice after one of its lady lecturers tested positive for COVID-19. Notably, her husband had passed away due to the deadly virus.
She has been sent to Cuttack COVID hospital. Her husband, a senior official of NALCO, was under treatment at Angul COVID hospital. He had passed away yesterday morning, which was followed by the lady too testing positive.
The entire campus will be sanitised and all those who came in direct contact of the lecturer will be tested for novel coronavirus. Contact tracing was undertaken and accordingly, several employees of the Civil department have been advised home quarantine.
Additionally, Angul Collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty had informed that NALCO office and canteen have been shut for two days following the employee’s death. Mohanty added that a medical surveillance team visited the NALCO plant premises here earlier in the day and referred 15 employees of the plant. These 15 had come in direct contact with the deceased official and have been asked to stay in home quarantine.
