‘Walk Of Shame’ Protest: Cong Holds Padayatra From Dana Majhi’s Village To Bhawanipatna

**Bhawanipatna:** Opposition Congress on Monday held a ‘padayatra’ (walkathon) from hapless Dana Majhi’s village Melghara to 57 km far Kalahandi’s district headquarters town here in protest against the allegedly inhumane treatment meted out to the poor tribal man who was denied an ambulance by the district headquarters hospital (DHH) authorities to ferry the dead body of his wife on Wednesday last week.

Led by AICC secretary and former MP of Kalahandi Bhakta Charan Das, Koraput MLA and PCC ST-SC Cell president Krushna Chandra Sagadia, former MP of Nabarangpur Prdeep Majhi, hundreds of Congress activists walked down from Melghara village in Thuamul Rampur block to Bhawanipatna and staged a demonstration before the Kalahandi Collector’s office.

Dana Majhi and his three daughters also participated in the protest and vented their woes allegedly flung on them by the district administration.

Demanding a judicial probe into the incident and stringent actions against those responsible,
Congress on the day threatened to intensify the stir statewide if justice is not given to the poor tribal family soon.
