Angul: A notorious criminal sustained injuries in police encounter in Angul last night. Khirod Nayak, who was wanted in several cases sustained bullet injuries in his right leg.
Khirod is a resident of Chendipada area in Angul.
According to reports, the Chendipada police collaborated with the Angul Town Police Station and Special Squad yesterday to apprehend the criminal.
Upon spotting the police, Khirod fled into a nearby mango orchard near Hanuman Batika, under the jurisdiction of Angul Town Police Station. He attempted to escape by firing at the police, prompting them to retaliate, which resulted in his injury.
