Puri: An encounter by Talabania Police resulted in a wanted criminal getting injured and later nabbed on Friday near Pipili overbridge at Tarakarja Chhaka.
The accused has been identified as Bhagirathi Pradhan alias Bhagu of Balighat under Talabania Police station, Police report said.
The Police team were able to track Bhagu and apprehended him. In an attempt to escape, Bhagu fired shots at Police. In self-defence, Police responded adequately which resulted in the criminal sustaining bullet injuries on his left leg. One motorcycle, one 9 mm pistol, and one 9 mm live ammunition was seized from him, quoted Police sources.
Bhagu was first taken to Pipili hospital and then transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for better facilities.
Notably, he was wanted in 20 different cases under Kumbharpada, Talabania, Chandanpur, and Puri Sadar Police Stations.
